Cowabunga Dude! A Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Cake

Cowabunga Dude!

It’s a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles on a cake!

A Ninja Turtle Cake sketch!

Little Danny, the sweet little man who challenged me with a Sonic cake last year, was celebrating his 5th birthday! COWABUNGA! 🙂
To celebrate such occasion, I was asked to come up with another sweet creation for him, using the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles AND the Bey Blade as a theme. The turtles didn’t seem a problem. The Bey Blade, on the other hand, was a different story. Launched at the beginning of the 21st century, these spinning tops are complete foreign objects to me. So, please, use your imagination and pretend like you see a Bey Blade on that lower tier!  And then, concentrate your attention of the beautiful green heads of those 4 turtles with their eyes covered! or the yummy “pepperoni pizza” resting on that bottom tier! Cowabunga!

The Cake:

2 tiers of Yellow (vanilla) filled with Dulce de Leche. Both cakes were crumbcoated with Swiss Meringue buttercream and then covered with Marshmallow Fondant.
The turtles’ heads were made out of Rice Krispie Treats and then covered with fondant. The manhole behind the turtles was made out of gumpaste. Most of the “pizza toppings” on the bottom tier were made out of chocolate candy clay.  My favorite topping: the pepperoni!   I’m just missing some black olives made out of fondant for my husband!
